Places to visit near Nuevo Vallarta, Mexico

The town of Bucerias (10 minutes north of Nuevo Vallarta) has made a name for itself not only for the beautiful beaches and friendly people, but also for a wide selection of art galleries. Along the central avenida and just one block from the beach, charming cafés and artisan shops open into secret gardens behind walls covered in colorful bougainvillea.

La Cruz de Huanacaxtle

Affectionately called “La Cruz” (15 minutes north of Nuevo Vallarta), this enchanting seaside fishing town is the jewel of the Riviera Nayarit and a prominent symbol of distinctive modern development in the region. Home to the brand new Marina Riviera Nayarit at La Cruz, sailboats and luxury yachts slip in the protection of this south facing shoreline.

The chic bohemian village of Sayulita (25 minutes north of Nuevo Vallarta) offers a delightful day-trip just north of the Banderas Bay. Twenty minutes from anyone of our developments, guests can choose a peaceful drive along the coast road or take the highway canopied by the mountain jungle.

Punta de Mita

Punta de Mita is located on the northern peninsula of the Banderas Bay and a fourty minute drive from Nuevo Vallarta. Apart from the coastal fishing village, a newly developed enclave of luxury homes and condominiums share nine miles of coastline with boutique hotels and several renowned restaurants.

Nuevo Vallarta

Complimentary to the colonial charm and lively activity of the Riviera Nayarit is the modern tranquility of Nuevo Vallarta. Located approximately 10 minutes south of Bucerias. With over 5 kilometers of white sand beaches lined with 4- and 5-star hotels, gourmet restaurants and shopping plazas, there are three world-class golf resorts that attract annual international competitions.

San Francisco

Just beyond Sayulita, is the quieter but equally vibrant San Francisco (35 minutes north of Nuevo Vallarta), known to locals as San Pancho. A brand-new Polo field attracts weekend visitors to wine and dine in the patio restaurant/lounge overlooking the game.

Lo de Marcos

The pueblo of Lo de Marcos (45 minutes north of Nuevo Vallarta) was historically a vast hacienda that harvested coconut oil from now rare and protected palm trees. Beautiful beaches are bordered by the tropical jungle and tiny palapas line the sand offering the ultimate rustic Mexican beach atmosphere.
